Breaking News!
Wednesday,
June 7, 2000 - 3:30 PM PST
Word
came today that the pilot Clancy filmed
in April, Breaking News, was picked
up yesterday by TNT for a run (so far) of
13 episodes. That is a normal number of
episodes for an intitial starting run, then
more are added through the season if the
show does well. No details yet about when
or where filming will be, or when the series
is expected to air, but my guess would be
later this Fall.
The pilot was directed by Ken Olin (of "Thirtysomething"),
and the large ensemble cast of Breaking
News also includes Tim Matheson (of
"The West Wing") and John Ritter. The story
involves a 24-hour television news network
and what struggles the people (both in front
of the cameras and behind the scenes), go
through to get the story first. Clancy portrays
the head of the network news department.
There is a short plot summary in the April
4th listing below, as well as on the
official TNT web site.
Clancy
is scheduled to make an appearance at a
corrections professionals convention later
this month. Their web site can be found
at www.afscme.org
Here is a blurb:
Clancy Brown will be appearing at the
American Federation of State, County and
Municipal Employees (AFSCME) 34th National
Convention held in Philadelphia June 26
- 30, 2000. AFSCME represents over 80,000
corrections professionals nationwide and
Clancy Brown has portrayed corrections officers
in many of his roles. His most recent role
in the film "The Hurricane" was highly lauded
by COs across the country due to the positive
image him portrayed.
And
lastly, some Madison news... There is a
new website done in coordination with Kids
With a Cause, and has photos of Madison
during her last days at the hospital. Anyone
familiar with Clancy's show Earth 2
will be surprised just how much older she
looks! Wow! The site is here: http://www.kidswithacause.org/Madison.htm
Another
New Project
Tuesday,
May 2, 2000 - 1:30 PM PST
Clancy
is off to Dublin, Ireland to film a new
TV movie called Yesterday's Children!
No other plot info yet except that he is
playing the "boorish husband" opposite Jane
Seymour.
Clancy Note
Tuesday,
April 11:
Added a note
from Clancy about fan letters to the
Fan Club area.
New
Series Pilot
Tuesday, April 4,
2000 - 1:30 AM PST
Clancy
is currently in the gorgeous city of Vancouver
shooting a pilot called Breaking News.
The pilot is for a new dramatic series for
the TNT Network, which is hoping to air
a new original series in this coming fall
season. The show is about a television newsroom,
and Clancy will be playing the producer/boss.
If the series gets picked up for fall, it
hasn't yet been determined if it will be
shot in LA or in Vancouver.
Thanks to Beth!
The
following show summary is from the TNT
web site: In
the fast-paced, high-pressure environment
of a 24-hour news station, the demand to
get the story first and feed AmericaÕs insatiable
appetite for news exacts a high price on
the people who keep the machine running.
BREAKING NEWS chronicles the drama that
unfolds in the lives of reporters and producers
behind the headlines. Gardner Stern (NYPD
Blue, Law & Order) will write and executive-produce
for New Line Television and Trilogy Entertainment.
John Watson will also serve as executive
producer.
Los Angeles Fundraiser
Tuesday,
February 29, 2000 - 12:10 AM PST
Clancy
will be in attendence at an Academy Awards
party and fundraiser held annually by Kids
with a Cause, Inc. in Los Angeles, California.
The fundraiser will be held on March 26,
2000, as the Academy Awards are taking place
in the very same city. The event chairperson
is J. Madison Wright, from Earth 2,
who has restrictive cardiomyopathy (Read
about her condition).
The following is from the event
information site... "Hearts
of Stars is the theme of this year's
Academy Awards celebration which is an annual
event hosted by children to benefit children.
The invitees include the Academy members'
children, the nominees' children, entertainment
industry families and residents of our community.
The celebration will be just like the special
Hollywood evening of the Academy Awards
¨, except that this one is for the children.
We'll have the lights, cameras and action
. . . . but we'll skip the speeches. The
hosts of the celebration will be members
of Kids With A Cause. This impressive list
of celebrity children (from film and television)
donate their time throughout the year to
help less fortunate children. The event
chairperson will be 15 year old Madison
Wright from the popular television series,
Earth2 (NBC '94-'95 and can now be seen
on the Science Fiction Channel). Madison
is one of many children who suffers from
a heart condition and is on a waiting list
for a transplant. It is our goal to help
Madison, as well as other children in the
same situation, by providing assistance
to these children and their vital medical
needs."

tickets, please visit the information
site.
Various
News and Notes
Friday,
February 24, 2000 - 1:00 AM PST
Little
Mermaid II:
The sequel for Disney's The Little Mermaid,
titled Little Mermaid II: Return to the
Sea, will be released September 5 in
the US on both VHS and DVD. Clancy lends
his voice to this animated movie as a shark
that gets transformed into a guppy. There
is more information about this project at
this cute
site.
Practice ratings:
The January 30th episode of The Practice,
airing after the Superbowl, ranked first
in it's timeslot and seventh for the week,
with an audience of 15.4 million people.
On February 6, The Practice was also
ranked at number 7 with 14.7 million people
watching (Source: Nielsen Media).
Two new animated series:
More voicework in store for us... One series
is a new Disney cartoon, which will be airing
probably on Saturday mornings on ABC, called
Teacher's Pet. The other is a Columbia/Tri-Star
syndicated cartoon entitled Heavy Gear:
the Animated Series, which Clancy is
working on right now and will debut January
2001 in syndication.
Info about the mechanized gaming universe
of Heavy Gear can be found here,
and information about the upcoming series
from Sony's
press release (Thanks George). The series
is being produced by Sony Pictures Family
Entertainment (SPFE) which also produced
Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot (airing
on the Fox Kids Network) and Roughnecks:
Starship Troopers Chronicles, of which
Clancy is also apart.
Older animated series that deserve a mention:
Remember to listen for Clancy as Mr. Krabs
in the wacky Nickelodeon cartoon SpongeBob
SquarePants, as Lex Luthor in The
New Adventures of Superman on the WB,
reprising his role as Sergeant Zim in the
computer-animated Roughnecks: The Starship
Troopers Chronicles in syndication,
as Siege in The Mighty Ducks and
as various characters in the animated series
Gargoyles - both of which are still
playing on the Disney Channel.
Clancy on The Practice Superbowl Sunday
Thursday, January
27, 2000 - 1:30 PM PST
Clancy will be guest starring on two episodes
of the The Practice beginning this
Sunday. This week's episode will air immediatly
after the Superbowl ends on ABC, which may
be later than the Practice's normal 10 PM
timeslot on the east coast areas. The west
coast will probably get the show at its
normal time. Clancy's character is listed
as "DA Fox" in an episode set in Los Angeles.
From his charcter name it looks like he
is district attorney in a case where Lindsay
(played by Kelli Williams, who guest starred
on Earth 2) defends a man accused of murdering
a woman he met over the Internet. The case
continues over into next week's episode
and concludes then. Wiith the Superbowl
viewers carrying over after the game concludes,
you can bet this episode is going to be
widely watched and highly rated.
