Character actor Clancy Brown has been busy in the video game world, most recently spending time at Womb voicing the virtual John Anderton for Activision's Minority Report video game.

Clancy Brown has been named chairman of the board of Brown Publishing, the newspaper company said Tuesday. He succeeds his father, Clarence J. Brown Jr., 75, a former congressman who will remain a member of the board. The company, founded in 1920, publishes more than 45 daily and weekly newspapers in western and southern Ohio. Clancy Brown has been a board member since 1987. His brother, Roy, is president and CEO. 'It's just passing the torch from one generation to the next,' said Joe Ellingham, the company's chief financial officer. Clancy Brown, 43, a television and movie actor who appeared in such films as The Shawshank Redemption and Highlander, lives in suburban Los Angeles.

This quarter's issue features fan's answers to Clancy's question about "What is fandom?," information about Carnivale, Normal, and Breaking News in an exclusive interview with Clancy, all with photographs and a color cover! Clancy was interviewed for this one. An extensive article from Newsday about the history of the series, how it came from TNT to Bravo. Gearing up for Breaking News

This morning, Clancy made an appearance at the Television Critics Association 2002 tour in Pasadena to promote "Breaking News." The panel also included: co-creator and co-executive producer Gardner Stern; co-executive producer and director Ken Olin; stars Tim Matheson and Lisa Ann Walter; and Frances Berwick, Senior Vice Pres of Bravo's Programming & Production.

Keep an eye out for Breaking News mentions on the entertainment shows next week!

Clancy is also on the front page of BravoTV.com, which has updated their official page for Breaking News.

It's not Episode III...

Monday, July 5
CB will be doing a voice in an upcoming LucasArts video game titled "Star Wars Bounty Hunter." He plays Jango Fett's nemesis, Montross. The game is scheduled to be released later this year for PlayStation and GameCube.
Breaking News is back! The cable station Bravo has bought the rights to air the 13 episodes of Breaking News this summer! More information about the show here. The press release from Bravo is here, which also has some great cast photos included with it.
There are articles about Bravo picking up the show at TVinsite, the New Jersey Star-Ledger, and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The series begins on Bravo on Wednesday, July 17 at 8pm.

HBO Films: "Normal"

Clancy is about to start shooting Normal for HBO. The following are excerpts from a press release on HBO.com:

LOS ANGELES - Production is set to begin soon on two new HBO Films projects, it was announced today by Colin Callender, president, HBO Films. Jessica Lange (Oscar¨ winner for "Tootsie" and "Blue Sky") and Tom Wilkinson (recent Oscar¨ nominee for "In The Bedroom") will star in NORMAL. Dame Maggie Smith (Oscar¨ winner for "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" and "California Suite"; recent Oscar¨ nominee for "Gosford Park") will star in MY HOUSE IN UMBRIA.

NORMAL is the moving and sometimes funny story of what happens to a marriage when the husband and father announces his plan to have a sex change. Jane Anderson (HBO's "If These Walls Could Talk 2") adapts from her play "Looking for Normal" and directs. Cary Brokaw, president and CEO of Avenue Entertainment Group ("The Player"; HBO's Emmy¨-winning "Wit" and upcoming "Angels in America") will executive produce. Production begins in the Midwest this month.

Announcing.... Carnivále!
HBO has picked up a pilot of the series and will be filming 13 more episodes this fall for a possible summer 2003 debut. The series stars Nick Stahl (of the upcoming "Terminator 3") as well as fellow Earth 2 alum, Patrick Bauchau ("The Pretender"). In contrast to his Breaking News character, Clancy plays "a bad guy" in this show about a traveling carnival in the 1930s. More info at the Futon Critic and the Patrick Bauchau website.

Star Trek: Enterprise

Sunday, May 5
Clancy's Enterprise episode airs on Wednesday. He plays an alien leader named Zobral in the episode entitled "Desert Crossings." Info on the episode at startrek.com, including a photo and a 30-second clip. Here is the synopsis:
An alien leader invites Archer and Trip to his desert planet to repay them for fixing his ship, but the being's true motives soon become known.
The episode repeats Saturday at 10PM and Sunday at 8PM.
